[2022.11.23] Korea University of Technology and Education's Industry-Academic Cooperation Group Signs Technology Transfer Contract with EPIC

The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Korea University of Technology and Education (KUT) signed a technology transfer contract with EPIC Systems. The signing ceremony was held at Oakwood Premier Hotel in Songdo, Incheon, attended by the head of KUT's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and EPIC Systems CEO Lee Wan-seob.

Two technologies were transferred: "Automotive Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Upgrade System Technology with Security Functions" and "Guest Room Door Lock Management System Technology," both developed by Professor Choi Jin-gu of KUT's Computer Engineering Department.

These technologies were advanced through the Ministry of Education's BRIDGE+ program, which transforms university research into commercially viable technology. The "Guest Room Door Lock Management System Technology" was notably developed from an outstanding capstone design project by KUT computer engineering students, representing a successful case of student creativity leading to patent filing and technology transfer.

Organizations including Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Korea Invention Promotion Association, and Gyeonggi Technopark will support the rapid commercialization of the transferred technologies.
